Wrestling shoes are specially made to wear in the ring during matches. They are usually extremely lightweight and made with mesh and leather as to provide ventilation so that wrestlers don't get bogged down by sweat.
Some wrestling shoes can be very expensive, depending on the characteristics of the shoe. Shoes can cost upwards of $150, but great youth wrestling shoes can be found for as little as $40.
When purchasing new wrestling shoes, parents should keep in mind the following:
- Add a half size to your child's normal shoe size.
- Make sure that the shoes are comfortable and lightweight. The lighter the shoe is, the faster your child will be.
