Ankle and foot injuries are most likely in
high school girls' volleyball during jumping, spiking or blocking,
according to the
first phase of a study by the National Athletic Trainers' Association
(NATA).
At its January 11-12, 2004 meeting in Indianapolis, the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Volleyball Rules Committee reaffirmed the switch to the rally scoring format for high school volleyball in 2004-05, which was approved last year on an optional basis for 2003-04.
The libero -- a back-row, defensive specialist in volleyball -- will now be able to serve in one position in the serving order in high school volleyball, effective with the 2007-08 season.
