Jump Shot

The act of jumping and shooting a basketball in an even, controlled motion.

Lay-up

The act of running towards the basket and shooting, usually banking the ball into the net off the backboard.

Free Throw

The act of balanced, precise shooting from the free throw line, without jumping.

Dribbling

The act of moving or standing with a basketball while continuously bouncing it on the court.

Rebounding

The act of controlling a ball that has rebounded from off the net or backboard after a missed shot.

Give-and-Go

The act of passing to a teammate, then charging towards the net in order to gain space from a defender and receive a return pass from that teammate.

Pick/Screen

A pick is the act of standing behind or very close to a defender (screening) in order to reduce the defender's mobility, increase the chances of a foul, for receiving passes or to allow another player the opportunity to shoot.
