Michael Messner

Michael Messner is Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies at the University of Southern California, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on sex and gender, and sport. He has conducted several studies of gender in sports media for the LA84 Foundation in Los Angeles, and for Children Now. His books include Paradoxes of Youth and Sport (2002), Taking the Field: Women, Men, and Sports (2002), and It’s All For the Kids: Gender, Families and Youth Sports (2009).
