Biography

I am a physical education teacher at the high school level. Since my profession is one that promotes physical fitness, I try to keep in shape in order to set a good example for my students. Trying to encourage high school age students to make sound choices regarding exercise and diet becomes much more difficult if you cannot practice what you preach.

Character, integrity, and respect are concepts that are very important to me. They are things that are earned and/or demonstrated by what a person does not by what a person says. In a manner of speaking, setting a good example for students through demonstrating these three principles is one way I try to earn their respect. Anyway, that is my approach to my profession and pretty much to life as well.

I am also the author of Becoming a True Champion: A Handbook for Young Athletes Aiming for Greatness (currently seeking publication) and the blog The Athlete's Sports Experience: Making a Difference. Both my book and blog are written for the purpose of making a difference in the loss of perspective so common in youth, high school, and collegiate levels of sports today, to provide a better understanding on how "true" athletic success is attained (or success in anything for that matter), to help give athletes – and their parents – the tools needed for that success, and to demonstrate the life application and intrinsic value that is attainable through healthy sports experiences.
