I like to think of myself as a humble person. However, I have to establish a bit of credibility for would-be readers. From 1989 - 2008, I coached youth soccer, basketball and baseball, with a particular focus on Soccer where I coached at all levels from Under 4 to U19 including both house and travel teams. I spent 7 years coaching Varsity Soccer at SKHS. During that time, the girls won 4 First Division State Championships, and received no red cards, and only one yellow card. In 1988 I was named RI Schoolgirl Sports Coach of the Year, and in 1996 I was inducted into the RI Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame in 1996. From 1990-2000 I served as Soccer Coaches Trainer for South County Youth Soccer Club. I've spent 30 years teaching Social Studies at South Kingstown HS in Wakefield, RI. In 1996 I was named the RI Social Studies Assn. Teacher of the Year. Also, in 1996, I was named a "Distinguished Teacher" by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. In 2008, the Model UN program I developed at SKHS was awarded a second place Civic Education designation by the RI League of Women Voters. Sorry! I had to do that to establish credibility.
