Does Your Youth or High School League Have a Shortage of Officials?

Great question, and yes, I think every league has trouble finding officials. Any reason why? Yes, because screwball parents, fans and coaches get on the officials, referees and umpires and make it a miserable experience.
I see this especially true with young officials. Most are learning along with the players, but you get some people coaching and cheering like it's game 7 of the NBA finals and it's ruined for the umpire.
On the flip side, many of the umpires and referees can make pretty good money because it's turned into a crappy job that no one else likes to do. Our umpires makes $40-$50 per game. Not bad for a couple ours work.
