Background checks

Does your league require background checks? What type of check system do they use so that there is no inside “look the other way” stuff going on?  Has your  league resisted  adding background checks to  its  program?

Our baseball league mandated them this spring for the first season. All of us volunteers had to fill out forms. What I do not think is right are all the paid staff did not have to go through with this. Of course they protested.

Yes, why would paid staff be exempt? Aren't paid staff the people who would come into most contact with our kids?? People need to stop viewing background checks as a personal attack and as a necessary precaution. No one should be uncomfortable with a background check unless they have something to hide.
