As long as the coach is fair and the kids are being taken care of and not abused it is all equal. I think the main word to keep front and center is RESPECT. Pure and simple. Why do men think they can yell at boys is beyond me or why they can abuse girls. We need to watch this very carefully.
Ah the two most ambiguous words in coaching, fair and equal. Nothing in life is fair and equal. Parents and fans are not at practice everyday or in the dugout or locker rooms. If you have 10 kids and 1 is screwing around all the time, is it fair to play him as much as the others? If the kid is inferior do you put him at 3rd base so screamers are hit at him and he does not catch well? Of course not.
Coaches yell to A. be heard and B. get kids attention. Some kids need to be yelled at or they don't get the message.
Even if there is a difference I think it is good for my boy to have a man coach since his father is not always around. I also think it works the other way--we need to show girls that women are good coaches too.
Fair is Fair

Mentors are so important

High school
As a high school coach, I do see the uniqueness of boys and girls. The diffference is not so great at the lower levels.
