I am a baseball coach for five years and am seeing a huge increase in the rate of asthma in the kids on my team. What concerns me is that not many people seem to care about the environmental impacts. We played next to a town hit by a large apt complex fire and the smoke lingered. The league forced us to play or forfeit. ironically, we had to forfeit because too many of our boys were wheezing and one of the parents-a nurse approached me and said- "let's not put the health of our kids at risk." If it were not for him I think I would have had too much presure on me.

Nearly 5 million children in this country suffer from asthma. Without immediate treatment to keep a child's airways from constricting, asthma can be fatal.
